Did anyone ever buy the Wudo dingle fairing?

Post by dderrig »

Saw many posts here "threatening" to buy one but did anyone ever pull the trigger as I have never seen a picture of one other than their website Image.
And even better:

I have to say I love the look of this even better than the wunderlich one and the price isn't that outrageous. I e mailed them and they have them in stock and you can get it in "black lacquered finish". I heard that their may have been an issue with turn signals ( from previous posts) but their e mail back to me says it's not a problem.

That's pretty damn nice, I think. I had forgotten about this... I vote Dderrig buys one and gives us a product review. I'd buy one myself, but MY wife's F650GS is denude of farkles, unlike your wife's. 8-[

Work is slow right now which means a couple of things:

A. I spend to much time on the net which leads to impulse buying

B. If I keep looking at something over and over my will is weak and I will breakdown

C. I promised my wife I wouldn't buy any more stuff for my R12 because I told her I was done

But........I am weak..............If I knew that it was at least as good noise and turbulence wise as my current BMW Tall windscreen I would by it and just take the wife beating later (That's my standard chicken sh.. method of buying things I am not supposed to)

Looks wise that thing is da bomb and I do know this, If I purchased it I would make a lot of you happy because we would finnally know if it's crap or not....and that means a lot to me....making my fellow R12R's happy :^o

Stay tunned...............

IMHO It's gorgeous! I really want one. However, I today received a price quote from Wudo:

€ 399 for the fairing
€ 189 to paint it black
€ 59 shipping to US
3% fee on my credit card for international transaction is $27.

At today's exchange total cost is that's $938.
Yikes.

The Wunderlich is $799 plus $12 UPS shipping. So, there's only a $127 difference. I'll probably go with the Wudo because IMHO it looks so much better on the R12R

Harry Costello had one on his R12R.. not my look, but he said it provided good protection and seemed quite happy with it. If you do a search for "Scout" some photos will likely turn up.

Science, that's funny! I figure if I like it I can sell both my BMW sport and Touring screens and recoup a little cash. The only thing I am worried about is noise. I can deal with buffeting as I get that already with my touring screen but can deal with that. Nosie is another issue, if it's like the Ztechnik screen then it will be on e bay as with ear plugs it still got to me.

Hmmm.. I'm quite the opposite. Noise is tolerable, it's the buffeting that makes me crazy. Feels like someone's pushing me around, and I just want to push them BACK :-X

Seriously, I hope this turns out to be a good experience, it should look super-cool, and I predict it will be dead quiet and buffet-free. ;)

A double-date ride would be interesting... two 12R's, two 650GS's (both red). Hey Dave, why don't you paint your bike the right color so we can hook up!?

lol look up...

She loves it, but she's scared to death of it, or was. I guess you could call it tentative at the moment. She's a tiny little thing, so it's much more imposing than her CBR125R.

And she's only been riding for 3 months. Scary for both of us!

White (cool) I love that color. Yes my wife is a little tentative on hers because even with a custom saddle (Rich's here in Seattle) she is on her toes (she's 5'5" but has shorter legs but is stong as an ox) and things get a little dicey on drastically uneven stops or 90 turns from a light or stop sign going up hill (she has tipped over twice basically at 0 mph, thank god for the givi crash bars as the bike has zero damage). I'll say this when she gets that sucker loaded up with gear (and believe me when she even goes for short rides she brings the kitchen sink with her, must be a women thing) it's seems much heavier than the R1200R??? The good thing as of late is she seems to be gaining confidence and I think she's doing fine considering like your wife she's only been riding for a short time. Next year the BMWOA Rally is suppoesd to be in Redmond Oregon, you should make a trip of it and hook up with us. We have another couple we ride with and are thinking of making the trip and maybe going to crater lake etc. It's a great ride (I actually rode my bicycle around it the year before last, very hilly but beautiful).

Duly noted Chitown (Joe), I am originally from Chicago (Grew up in the burbs, Arlington Heights area) so if things don't work out I'll put you at the top of the list although I hope it's not the case. By the way do you ride your R much anymore since you got the F800? Love your web site and photos, hell you should have your own calendar.

Actually....
My R just had a complete mega service done at A&S with new rubber, in preparation for the bikes journey home to Chicago starting next week by one of the members here. At the end of the month when I get off tour working I'll be meeting up with the R in Chitown, finally having both bikes in one place at one time - for a few days, then I'm setting out for a little ride around the North East... needless to say I'm very excited to get back in the saddle with those jugs hanging out!
A proper adventure on the Roadster is way overdue.
