surging, sputtering after 6K service

I am bringing my bike back to the dealer in a few days but am curious as to what can be the cause of this. Brought my 2007 R12R in for 6K service and after I got it from the dealer it felt very smooth ..much smoother than before I brought it in. One Caveat was that since the dealer is only 10 miles away I didn't have a chance to really go through all the gears. Then took a weekend trip and in 3rd-6th gears the bike would gasp and surge and stutter whenever I would open the throttle to accelerate. This always happened around 3800 RPMs and in 4th 5th and 6th gears the bike won't even go past 4200 RPMs...it will get there and then it feels like its running out of gas which of course it is not...And now I am noticing similar symptoms in first gear if I accelerate too fast...the bike will stutter around 4500 RPM and the bike will buck a bit then continue up the RPM scale.

Any help/suggestions/thoughts appreciated.

Sounds like a misfire.

Suggestion - easy to try also.. make sure the ignition coils, in particular the center mounted ones (in the middle of the valve cover) are fully seated. Since these plugs are removed to do the valve adjustment, it's possible one of the coils wasn't fully reseated on the sparkplug.

Remove the cover (pinch it at the thin end where it goes around the corner on the valve cover) - then give each coil a slight tug. If they're seated - the tug will do nothing. If it isn't seated, you should hear a faint click when you press the coil back in place (thumb on the center works for me..)

If that's not it - I think it should go back to the dealer.

Check your throttle cables at the throttle body and make sure they are seated properly.

I agree with Don. Always check the last thing touched and connectors of any type is my general rule of thumb. Good luck, more a frustration than a real problem I bet!
