givi rear rack help needed

I have just purchased a givi rear rack,when reading the instructions on how to fit it,it states can only be fitted with orginal side case holders still fitted to the motorcycle....well my bike does not have the side case holders.It made no mention of this when i ordered it online.is there any way round this or will i have to return to rack?..I guess the cost of buying the side cases holders from BMW would be far to expensive..any ideas?

Sorry for the bad news but you will need those side case rails if you want to attach any kind of rear rack. They cost $79. a piece and you'll need 2. Buy through Chicago BMW and you'll get 20% off.

If you see any one selling the rails cum rack, my friend will pick up the rack and you guys share cost.

yes you are right i will have to buy the siderails to fit the givi rack (£101 ouch)
I could buy the motech rack this does not have to have the side rails for it to fit,but i would have to buy the givi plate as well which brings the cost to £150.

if i keep the givi rack and buy the side rails it will be £30 more than the motech rack...

undecided at the moment,are the luggage rails easy to fit onto the bike?..my bike has 1 lug either side of the tail piece and there is 1 blank on either side of the mudguard,with 2 screw holes is this where the rails are fitted?

any advice would be welcomed

I adapted a Givi case to the BMW adapter plate that is made to hold the soft case. I followed the design similar to a guy on this site Tony

thanks for the advice,,I ordered panniers rails from motorworks last week,fitted them at the weekend along with the Givi rack,no problems, all i need now is some second hand panniers.another question.
Is it possible to buy a hugger for the r1150r? in the U.K
