A low tech and often effective radar detector detection method is this:

Officer uses his radar gun from behind the vehicle and notes which ones are suddenly braking when the instant-on is switched on. They then pull this motorist over and then see the radar detector in stealth mode, but still plain view. Busted.

I always put my detector in the trunk and just go slow when traveling in the Peoples Republic Of Virginia.
My credit card was hit for the Valentine 1 money late Monday or early Tuesday and FedEx tried to deliver Wednesday (one week after the order) but I was not there to sign. I had to come home from work and be there to sign today. PITA. Looks nice and new. I haven't had much time to spend with my new precious but it looks new enough.

Yes, the Spectre and VG II are used to detect radar detectors. They can have more than a 1000' range and even the Valentine I is detectable over a short range.

Currently the only undetectable high quality detector is the BEL STI. If you live in an illegal to use detector Province or State this is the one to buy.

Can someone tell me about the installation and wiring of their Valentine one to their R1200R? I've got a mount for the unit but I would like to minimize ugly wiring.

mounts and cordless?

Post by jeremell »

What are you all using to mount the radar detector? I have a RAM mount for a camera and would like to stick with that. I see that Aerostich has a "box" that works with RAM but its size is limited. I also see that RAM has a magnetic plate but that doesn't protect the detector from the elements.

Also, does anyone have experience with a cordless radar detector?

I forget who I bought mine from but it is pretty neat. It bolts onto the flange thing around the break or clutch fluid reservoir. On second thought I think it is a Z-Technik mount.

Simple.
While the Trooper has you on Radar he notices you SLAMMED on the brakes :D even hough he is partially hidden, obstructed from view, or in an un-marked car.

MOUNTING SYSTEMS..

I'm thinking very hard about getting the RAM system becuase of the ease in removing the stem, platform, and detectector when hot in sue, just leaving a "ball" mount onor close to yor handle bars. The Tecknik(sp) while doesn't quite disappear when not in use. I am still debating the "weather box".. With out a windscreen I doubt it is waterproof. http://www.ram-mount.com/

btw I gave on the Sheriffs Department, and ordered a replacement 8500 Passport today. If by chance the old one shows up..$150 you pay shipping.

Hey Mark if you just slow down on the beer runs to Hot Springs you would not need a radar detector. Tommy

Celts it hard to tell by the pictures what the mount attaches to (besides your detector).
