Spoked wheels on R1150R

Post by bikermeow »

Anyone ever contemplate or actually installed spoke wheels on the R? The stock 5-spoke ones are nice, but I really like the GS ones. Wunderlich has the spoke-wheels but I think that they will really cost.

The GS front wheel is a 19" one compared to the 17" on the R. Doesn't mean it cant be done, may need to fit the GS bottom fork legs.

I have always thought an interesting project would be to fit R1150GS front and rear suspension, wheels, beak etc. onto an 1150R. It would be a sortof R1150GSR.

Good luck.

I don't know how common the wheels would be, but BMW marketed a special version of the R1100R in 2000 or 2001 that had spoked wheels. Any wheels for the RR are going to be expensive. I think the stock ones might set you back a grand or so apiece.

This morning I saw a BMW 1200C custom cruiser with wire wheels , maybe these wheels would also fit the R1150R.
