Dead Batt

Post by RDGRNR »

2005 R1150R (US) ... too much sitting this winter left me dead ... I have a trickle charger ... can I charge or jump? (battery seems buried behind air-cooler ducts, etc ...)

You can charge through the BMW style socket located on the starter cover, left side above the peg. If you do not have the socket, remove the starter cover and attach the positive clamp to your hot lead from the battery to the starter.

Your bike may also have the jump post on the starter cover, if not, you can probably jump start the same way as a charge. As a disclaimer I must acknowledge that I have never jump started my bike.

You can't jump-start through the accessory socket. The other ways will work, though.
