TomTom Rider GPS - Mounting Brackets

Has anyone had any success mounting a TomTom Rider to their R12R with something a little more subtle than the mounting system provided with the unit?
I am wanting to get a TomTom rather than any other brand because I like the one I have in my car. The thing that I can't get past though is the outrageous mounting hardware. it looks like a long stalk that uses a "U" bracket to clamp onto the handle bar.

I want an nice short, elegant bracket that attaches to the bar in the middle and is set nice and low so that it doesn't obscure the display or block the ignition key.

Does anyone have pictures of an assembly and links to the supplier of such an assembly for the TomTom Rider?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am not sure if it will help you but this company http://www.ram-mount.com/ make all kind of GPS & Techno gears mounting systems... I think I even saw something specific for Tomtom GPS

I have the same problem to resolve on my R1200R on a Verizon rugged clamshell cellphone with which I very efficiently used a connected GPS service software called VZ Navigator designed originally by some rocket scientist from Pasadena Caltech university. ($10 per month in Verizon pocket)

With my 92 Suzuki GSX1100G I use to MickeyMouse a mounting that was ultra efficient even at 120Mph and cost me almost nothing. (precut Velcro patches, rings, small plastic ties etc etc)

It was "OK looking" on an old bike such as the GSX1100 but on the R1200R I will have to evaluate more than twice my MickeyMousing intentions.

If anyone know a sturdy clamshell cellphone mounting for motorcycle I will be wildly interested to read you...

I don't know if it could work for the Tom Tom, but for my Zumo, I use the simplest & cheapest mount of all - two stainless steel cable clamps which mount at the middle of the handlebars and screw straight onto the Zumo mount.
