Evening:
I appreciate all you input-re. painting my scratched valve covers. Unfortunately, upon further investigation-the one I slid on recently has a definite flat spot along the lower edge. Thus I believe it would just be best to replace them. As such, anyone know a mail order dealer that has 'good' prices?

Re: New Valve Covers
Chicago BMW offers 20% everything. They do take a while to ship since they really don't stock too much, but I doubt many BMW dealers are gonna stock valve covers.

Re: New Valve Covers
If you don't mind paying list (like your in a hurry) give Bobs BMW in Maryland a try. Hes always had whatever I needed and if I order before 10AM it's usually on my doorstep in Jersey the next day using regular UPS.

Re: New Valve Covers
Chris,
Just a thought, but it strikes me that a good fab shop may be able to fill the scrapes before painting. As I type this, I remember that they're magnesium, not aluminum, so I might be completely out to lunch (I'm an accountant, not engineer), but it might be a question worth asking. I've had aluminum rims repaired to new (wife hit the curb, not me - honest) for very few $$.

Plea bargaining does have its advantages.

Re: New Valve Covers
If you're a do-it-yourselfer, or a find-someone-to-do-it-for-me'er.... Build up the shape with aluminum epoxy, let dry, grind and sand to shape, prime and paint.

Re: New Valve Covers
Chicago BMW sells parts at 20 percent off, but I think the stuff is ordered from Germany, so it won't arrive quickly.
