61,448 miles (98,891 km) and 7 years + 1 week of proud ownership.
--Tail light assembly fell out, hanging by the wires in the 1st year. Replaced quickee plastic fasteners with real screws & nuts.
--One plastic QD broke this year, in my garage, on take-off. Replaced both with brass pipes, then last month installed new fuel lines with the Omega chrome plated $86 beauties. BMW should have used these on day-1 with the change to EFI.
That's it. Still on 2nd set of rear brakepads, just changed front pads to EBC HH. Maybe 3 wheelies but no hole shots. Crankcase temp gauge warns me of engine overheating. Full synthetic oil+filter changed every 6,000 miles and engine internals (seen at valve adjust) are bare clean new. Maybe I'm just lucky so far.
Just got home, 550mi in the saddle, just under 12 hours. Rolled over to 34k about 100 mi back. No problems, other than eating rear tires at the rate of 1 every 7 or 8k mi., and a leaking final drive seal,( still leaks, maybe it's the synthetic gear oil).
I love this bike so much, I wish I could marry it, ( never complains and always wants to ride).
I live 170mi from the nearest dealer, so I perform most of the maintenance Myself. Last winter I lubed the clutch spline shaft, very slight wear visible, easier to perform than expected.
I am looking forward to 100k out of this bike!

Maybe the question should be "who has the least miles with a major failure". Still cross about the rear wheel bearings giving out at 10000 miles. Apart from that I love my 2001 Roadster. I understand that there were bearing issues with the early models.
2002 1150r, 18,000 niles. 600, 6000, and 12,000 mile service done by carolina bmw with 12,000 mile service done just prior to my purchasing bike. just turned 18,000. zero problems so far.

What is the maintenance interval for lubing the clutch splines, anyway? My Rockster is now at about 5 years from its production date and I'm thinking I'd like to make sure that happens next riding season.
Hmmm. I've had the left side spark plug wire retainer melt off 3 times, the right side plastic cap for the suspension come lost a dozen times, the final drive leak oil at the boot at 8K miles, the oil pressure sensor fail at 30K, the rear license plate light holder come off the mounting at 2K miles, the front light housing lost after running over a big hole in the highway (cross bronx expressway) at 14k miles, the left side brass throttle body adjuster seize up and needed replacement at around 7K miles, the center stand got bent at 3K miles (my fault?), alternator died at 24k miles (battery drained and bike stopped in the middle of a major highway). However... I wouldn't trade my bike for any other bike. At least not yet. I love my roadster. It's got a tought life sitting in stop and go traffic, sitting out in the rain, etc. I've even overheated the bike to the smell of burning oil and smoke in some heavy duty stop and go traffic, but never ever had trouble with the engine. Well made bike overall. Just got to remember to keep the oil filled up.
Items replaced:
2 primary stick coils at 55k miles (one was bad; replaced the other as a good measure).
2 secondary spark plug wires (replaced as preventative measure given that I ride in 100+ temps for 6 months).
2 H5 headlight bulbs.
Rebuilt Ohlins shocks, twice (installed at 15k miles).
Lots of tires
28k on my 2003 Roadster. Only one failure of any sort, the right grip heater. Certainly not major. I have done several upgrades, the QD's, horn, handlebars, LED tail light, etc. It has served me well with no complaints.
I don't get caught in the rain, I ride in it on purpose.
