Accessory outlet connection problems. HELP!

Post by RVC7 »

I'd like to connect an outlet on my R1150R. Mine did not come with factory installed 12 Volt outlet/powerlet on the left side. It does have the hole and cover. When I looked far up and inside the only thing I found was a small two prong adaptor/connector. I went ahead and ordered what I thought was the same connector online only to have it not fit. What am I missing? Please help. When all is said and done, I want two cigar 12 volt connections. Thanks so much in advance! P.S. What's this hose for. It's loose and I can't find where it goes. See all pictures here: share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8AZM2LRs1at2Qq
Sorry, can't seem to get the link activated nor can I get images into the body of this post.

The BMW accessory outlet fits into that hole and that 2-prong female connector coming from inside the bike plugs into the back of the outlet.

Then your two pigtail BMW plug on the left in the photo will plug into the outlet.
That thing on the right is an adapter plug for a vest or other accessory.

You need part number 61131391630-Plug In Socket....I think.

I think what you need may be the BMW Plug-in socket, Part number 61-13-1-391-630.

The powerlet socket may not be suitable looking at the lead heads.

Yeah, you need the BMW socket. It comes with everything you need to mount it in the hole and plug into the wire already on the bike.

Hi
My 2002 also did not have the socket. I did not buy the BMW part - too expensive here in South Afica. I went to an auto electrician who fits accessories to caravans (I think you refer to them as trailers??) and 4X4 vehicles. I bought both the male and female sockets from him and did the installation myself.

Regards

Johan

Where did you find the vest adapter on the right of the photo? I have been searching everywhere for a SAE to Female BMW socket.
If you would let me know where you got it, i would appreciate it.
Thanks,
