I made my own stainless steel muffler tip.
Slitted it, welded on two nuts, drilled out the upper one, and clamped it onto my cat.
It didn't come loose so far.
Vibrations might be a little more compared to the standard muffler, but during a 450 kilometer high speed trip (in Germany; almost no speed limits there, so most of the time full throttle  (and by the way: I don't have a windscreen fitted ;) ) I didn't find the vibrations annoying.
I'm thinking of welding on an extra bracket to the tip to create an additional support point for the cat.

OP here, 1000miles in and I have noticed an increase in pep, especially in to 5000 to7500 rpm range with the silencer off, which pleases me, and the exhaust tone is plenty cool. thanks again for all the info... HP

Has anybody ever addressed the vibration issue? I've done the exhaust tip replacement and have noticed more vibration. I almost feel like I'm riding a Harley when idling at stoplights! :)

Have you checked for broken or loose CAT mounts. I don't seem to feel much differnce or any at all. Is your exhaust tip nice and tight?

You may need to check the valves and throttle body sync. I've heard of reports of increased vibration with the muffler removed, but not that bad. On mine, I probably have a little more vibration noticable at idle, but underway I don't notice.
