Sport(small) Shield ?
Hello All-
I am R1200R Newbie with only 2000 miles since bringing home last month.
I was hoping someone could let me know if the OEM sport shield causes any buffeting vs "naked".
I have been cleaning my bike weekly and was hoping the sport shield might give the cluster some bug protection but keep the air clean as "naked". I have a 6000 mile west bound week planned in two weeks and was wondering if the shield would help keep the front cleaner.....???

I'm all of 5'8". I've the sport screen and use a Shoei X11. If I slump a bit I get more wind noise than if I sit up straight. No real buffeting to speak of (the wind does not move my helmet around). I also feel the sport fairing keeps the wind blast off my chest at speeds above 65. That might be important for a trip of any length.
I'm looking to pick up a sport fairing from Parabellum. Hope it does not product any buffeting.
Good riding to you!

I have the sports screen and I love it, I used to have a tall Ztecknic screen and the buffeting around my head was obnoxious.

I'm 6'1" and the sport screen works well for me up to about 80 mph, which is about as fast as I go on a regular basis. It keeps the wind off my chest well, and my Arai Profile seems to pretty well take care of the rest.

Re: Sport(small) Shield ?
The small shield should do exactly what you want it to. It doesn't provide much relief to the wind pressure on your chest at speed, but if you're comfortable with that - the sport screen does provide very nice smooth air around your helmet.milemuncher wrote:Hello All-

Re: Sport(small) Shield ?
I'm 6'1" (34 inseam & use the tall seat) and find the sport screen MUCH more comfortable than the BMW touring (tall screen)
There are even times when i ride with the visor open (with glasses on, of course) & i really enjoy the nice clean air around my head.
I tried riding with no screen at all - but in the end i felt that the sport screen provided the best "protection", looks fantastic and eliminates buffeting (shoei multitec helmet)
Saying that, the tall screen works well, but i find it produces more noise at high speed. Anything over 140kph and it begins to annoy me.
So i'll be putting the tall screen back on around December (when it gets a bit colder + wetter) & see if it provides more protection against the elements while i reduce my speed.
The Ztechnik was unbearable for me. Caused major buffeting around the head. Basically any speed over 15kph gave me a headache.
I hope you find your perfect setup!

I think they are delusional. $155.
Wait and you can find a used one from a normal person.
