Italian Tune Up to Decarbon??

Is giving the boxer an "Italian Tune Up" a reasonable way to decarbon the piston top? If so how long would it take to do so? Looking into the cylinder throught the spark plug hole shows a little more carbon than I would think there should be in my bike. It does run real good though. I don't "drive it like I stole it" and wonder if I should be cranking it up more often.

These bikes seem to thrive on an occasional approach to the "rev-limiter" as you take off. I suppose its safe to say that is a pretty good way to decarbon them somewhat, and as a result they run better.

The Seafoam works too I believe...especially if you baby your bike. Another thing that works is to take the heads off, like Rob did, and clean them off manually...But I wouldn't suggest that for the amateur mechanic like I am.

I regularly run mine down the highway up to the redline, shift up, shift down, run the "crap" out of it. I dont know if that helps with the carbon buildup, but it sure feels good.
