"R" Series system cases
I am possible purchasing a 2003 R1100S Boxer Cup Replica next week which is equipped with the rails for the system cases. I am having a hard time determining if the cases from my R1150R will fit those rails or not. I will take my cases along next week but thought I might pose the question here to see if anyone could spare me the suspense!
Cheers

System Case is a System Case
Same cases. Assuming they are System Cases- you should be in good shape.
The only difference I have ever seen is the larger left side version for the RT. But those won't fit the R or S w/o modification to the muffler.

The left case will not fit. I am not sure about the right.

If the cases are the same, the left should fit no? You'd just have the cut-out showing without the high muffler going into it? But then again, I've been known to talk out of my butt.Biff's R wrote:The left case will not fit. I am not sure about the right.

A guy at work was asking me this same kind of question. He has....I'm not sure if it's an S or RS. Mufflers up under the seat.... We haven't got together to try them, but It looks like the R bags woulld fit the right side unless the mount rail is different. The "foot" is way outboard by the rear foot pegs. Because of the inboard mount of the foot on the RT, the larger left bag would require you to rivet a couple of angles to the bag as the locator. We have to find a time to get the bikes together and swap bags around. From looking at his mounts the left RR bag should fit with no modification, but like you I see no advantage in that. This guys stock bag is full size, leading me to wonder if it could be slapped right on a RR without the fabrication that usually goes with the RT to RR swap.johnnyjs1 wrote:If the cases are the same, the left should fit no? The "socket" for the lower mount is in a different place on the Left side pannier back. The R1100S uses the same pannier backs as the RT/RS - the R/Rockster uses the same pannier back as the GS.
The right side ones are all the same though.

LOL
Fair play!

Kind of what I thought. Will the stock left S/RS bag fit the RR ? With the exhaust removed that it.riceburner wrote:johnnyjs1 wrote:If the cases are the same, the left should fit no? With the exahust removed, and a new lug/socket fitted to the pannier wall, yes (some people on here have done it). But R-R panniers won't fit the S/RT/RS because there's no material to put a new lug on (because of the exhaust cut out in the pannier back).Airman wrote:Kind of what I thought.
