Clock

The clock on my 2002 R1150R has stopped running. Does anyone know how to fix it.

Did you check Fuse #1? It supplies power to the instrument cluster. If the fuse is good, you could also verify the clock is getting power by using a voltmeter or test light to the power input to the clock. (some disassembly required---you can find he how-to online) If power is there but clock still inoperative do the following:

1 Pull clock and send to a clock shop----expensive
2 Pull clock and buy new one from BMW----very expensive
3 Buy watch---cheap
4 Do what many others have done and trash clock and install Oil temp gauge

The clock draws power off the same fuse as the accessory power socket, which is the blue 15 amp fuse third from the left side of the bike in the fuse block. You can check it by looking at the thin wire on the top to see if it's it burned through.

Sometimes the fuse looks good, but isn't. If it looks good, check it with an Ohm meter or continuity checker anyway.

Thanks guys, it was my fuse (#3) which also handles my power outlet. That explains why I thought my battery tender wasn't working. A little knowledge is a wonderful thing.

My mistake---I told you to check the wrong fuse. CRS is setting in!

Thanks Lifer, It was my fuse as you thought. I found the right one by checking my owner's manual. That explains why my power socket wasn't working either. I feel dumb for not figuring it out myself but at least I'll now know when the time is right. By the way, where is the best place to buy fuses? Do you have to get them from a BMW dealer (mine is not close) or would an auto parts store carry something that would work?

The fuses are standard auto types. Take your blown fuse to any auto parts store, compare the type and rating...and buy some spares of various amp ratings...'tis good to have some spares.
