Once more questions about 12v for gps(need pics).

Post by Skippy »

There have been posts about the 12v plug that's somewhere in the downtube area on the R1200R. I'm using a TomTom one v3 car device in a sw motech holder(will take pictures after I modify the mount as I don't like it on the handle bars where's it's blocking the view of the info panel, now I'm going to mount it to the windscreen frame). I would like to know where exactly the plug is. I can only find one plug that seems unused and this is tierapped to a metal part that's behind the horn. I know some guys over here posted pics but can't seem to find them so please help me out and post pics and if possibble all info on removing the tank if nescesarry.

The one you found is about where it's located so I'm guessing that's it. It's the only unused one on that side of the bike that I found.

On the other side of the bike - where in the US we have an electronic vacuum valve for the charcoal canister purge, it wouldn't surprise me to find another one on an Oz bike..

Skippy - send me a PM with your email address.. I installed a Navigator-III on the R last night, and managed to take two very blurry and one sharp photos of the connector.

It is tie-wrapped up on the frame tube behind where the horn mounts. I found I was able to snip the tie-wrap and get it off the frame tube, but unable to move it around the tube to where I could reach it without moving the tank back about 3"..

It is the only connector in that area that has nothing going to it. It has a black cap over the actual connection, and there is a pressure-released catch on one side that holds the cap on (and will hold the connector in..)
