YouTube Video Good Ones

Post by CycleRob »

An 8 Min 23 Second video of a battle between a pride of lions, a herd of buffalo, and 2 crocodiles at a watering hole in South Africa’s Kruger National Park while on safari:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LU8DDYz6 ... 0370484952

Looks like the water buffaloes didn't like the distress calls from the downed prey. If they only knew how much power they have as an angry group !

That was great Rob...I bet the BBC would have loved to have filmed that.

btw..I just received my Planet Earth box set last week from Amazon so I'm a little OD'ed on all this nature stuff right now..but that was great.

For a moment then I thought the buffalo's were going to force the lions into the water where the croc's were waiting.

Great find, Rob! I've never seen anything like that, and I watch videos on African wildlife all the time.

We were warned on our Kenyan safari about how dangerous the Cape Buffalo are. They'll kill humans if given the chance.

The looks that the buffalo give you alone are threatening. More-so than even the lions.

They actually inspired me to do this drawing:

Not a U-Tube video . . . . but still amazing & my all-time favorite video!!!!

This happened in Dec 1986. An oil rig was drilling in a shallow 10 foot deep lake until the drill bit started hitting something solid - - - that turned out to be the interior walls of a salt mine 1300 feet below (396 Meters). The video shows what happened next.

It runs over 5 minutes.

It's from the History Channel's Modern marvels, engineering disasters series, episode 327. It's amazing that nobody was killed while so much was destroyed.

Cool videos, Rob. After being in the wilds of Africa last month and seeing lions, water buffalo, and crocs, I could really appreciate the first video even more.

Regarding the second video you posted, I had to Google some more information on that! I hate to admit it, but I had never heard of the whirlpool at Lake Peigneur in Louisiana before. I must have been busy doing something really important in 1980 to have missed (or forgotten) that story. The event must have been phantasmagorical for people to watch. Here's some more. A 2 legged dog that walks upright:

Snowball the dancing parrot:

Watching the Animal Planet channel on TV and those were there.

Then there's Tyson, the skateboarding dog:

You can burn a lot of time on that site.

I'm kinda partial to to Aussie cattle dogs and ran into this video a couple years ago. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2BfzUIBy9A My cow dog will be 10 in a few days, I cherish the time we have. These are perhaps the smartest dogs I have run into, I'm sure mine understands every word I utter.

You won't believe this one !!
It starts out slow, then it's obvious this rider has a death wish. It's a GS1150R on the Isle of Mann. Watch all the 4 cyl SportBikes that get passed. Runtime=10min25sec

After that intense video of the GS1150, perhaps a little light hearted fun.
