Wunderlich Trophy fairing

Post by Mr. Average »

Anybody have any updated info of this fairing? Last I heard availability scheduled for December, but nothing since. The aftermarket doesn't seem to be jumping on the R1200R. I wonder if this is because of sales numbers.

Good question. It sure looks good in their catalog.

Have you tried contacting Santa Cruz BMW?

If that's a possibility, I'm in.. (and I believe my daughter, who also rides a new RR, will take one as well).

That was me that called them last time and got that info.
Thank you for reminding me!

I couldn't reach them by phone, but sent them below questions:

1) Has the fairing received governmental approval yet?
2) Do you sell directly to the USA, or does one have to go via BMW Santa-Cruz?
3) If you sell directly, what is the price w/o VAT?
4) Do you offer a discount for orders of 3 or more?

I'll keep you guys posted about what they say.

I too would be interested in a group buy if Santa Cruz is willing to do so.

Does anyone have a contact / good relation to BMW SC, to see if they are willing to wheel and deal?

I just got an answer from Wunderlich, but they only really stated that they do not sell directly to customers in the US and that we have to go via BMW SC.

Anyone here deal with them before?

I spoke with them last month. I asked them if they had a Wunderlich price list, since the prices are not posted in their e-catalog.

The fella I spoke with (I didn't write down his name, but he seemed very friendly), asked me to give him a list of part numbers, and he'd give me the prices.

I haven't called back - yet.

Go for it.. make the call and see what they say.

Damn.. I suppose that's ok.. I was counting on picking up the fairing and getting some paint on it and the bike during the winter months.

I dont think they got a dealer in Canada so they might sell direct here.

If they do, could you ask if they would charge you the 17% VAT or not?
They shouldn't, but I noticed that some European vendors do regardless. I guess it's a nice extra profit for them. In this case it would be over $100: Fairing is ~450€, 17% is about 77€ which at the current ROE makes it about 115 USD.

Not until mid 2008

Post by OlyVR »

Well Guys and Gals,

I just got an email from Wunderlich stating the the fairing probably won't be available until mid 2008 and that unfortunately no exact date is known.

I assume that this is still connected to the ABE issue.

Honestly, I'm starting to lose interest...

Here's the email for those that can read German:

Sehr geehrter Herr ....,

die Trophy Verkleidung für R1200R wird vorraussichtlich erst Mitte 2008 verfügbar sein. Leider ist es uns nicht möglich einen genaueren Liefertermin zu nennen.
With best Regards

You should look at the Wudo fairing. It's really nice but for some reason, I can't attach a photo of it. If you search the forums, someone more technologically competent has posted a photo of it.

I have emailed them and it is available directly from them. The part number is 46-63-89-40. You can probably search their site using the part number. It lists for 343 euros or 398 incl the VAT. Too rich for my blood right now but I really like the look of it.

Actually , Looking at the two side by side I believe I like the Wudo Fairing better. How much is that in dollars?

The Wudo is the sharper of the two, in my opinion. I'd go for that one.
