I have a technical problem and am in great need of some assistance from this forum. Everyone seems to be very technically and mechanically savvy and I am definitely not!!
Yesterday, I purchased a Gerbing jacket liner that I need to wire up. Seems a bit weird since it's still 85 degrees here in Dallas but I'm sure the weather will change soon. Probably just in time for GypsyRR's group trip to Arkansas!!
I think I have three options for the installation:
1) Wire it directly to the battery as described in the instructions.
2) Add it to my Centech box which I am pretty sure is wired to the battery.
3) Add an additional Powerlet accessory socket (not connected to the CANBUS) and just plug it in that way. Don't want to blow up the CANBUS.
Obviously, I am no electrician. If I wire it to the Centech, do I have to remove the fuse attached to the wiring harness? I assume I do since the Centech is a fuse box.
I suppose that I would have the same questions about wiring the additional accessory socket too. Would that go to the Centech box or directly to the battery?
When I had my GPS wired in, the shop did it and they attached the wires to the Centech box. Usually I let the professionals handle this sort of thing but I really thought this would be straightforward enough that I could handle it.
Appreciate any input!!
