Does anyone have the comfort seat?

and if so, is it comfortable? I know at least one or two posted here a few months back they were considering the comfort seat.

I have the opportunity to get a comfort seat at 20% off retail so if it's decent enough I may give it a whirl.

I do know the usual after-market seat peeps and interestingly enough Cee Bailey's is now in the seat biz as well.

The comfort seat is the same (construction, materials etc.) as the stock seat.
It is either the high or low one (I forgot which one).
Maybe you can get lucky with someone here that has a low seat and wants a stock seat or vice versa.

Are you referring to the tall seat option? I have one of those and the standard height seat. The tall seat gives my knees and hips enough room so those remain happy. However, the seat is raised by a bunch of foam stuck in the middle of the seat, so it has a worse shape than the standard. Even after 3k miles it was still not what I would want to sit on for multiple hours.

I had my name down for a Sargent seat , but the Airhawk is so comfortable I dont think I need a custom seat now.

I am on the stock seat and am good to about 200 miles, after that, forget it.

How much taller does the AirHawk make your seat? I haven't got alot of leg left when I stop at a light.

Properly deflated seated with all your weight on it, the AirHAwk should have about half an inch of air as a support above the stock seat....plus the material thickness, so my guess it may be 3/4 to 1 inch taller??.

Actually - I prefer a FreedomAir cushion (it's designed with males in mind.. http://www.starcushion.com/consumer.php) - if inflated correctly - perhaps 1/2".. it just has to be inflated enough to lift you off the stock seat - by the minimum amount needed. Some people don't understand this - and over inflate air-cushions. That's not how they work best - they work best when they're speading your weight over the entire contact area.

I believe about the same as the AirHawk - both retail around $140.. (but you can resell them easily on Ebay for no loss - I did on the AirHawk I had - I actually sold it for more than retail - that's Ebay for'ya..)

Also, From what I gather, all the stock seats are called comfort seats by BMW. This was made clear on another thread somewhere as well I recall.
The part numbers are as follows (in part number order):

Std seat= 52537698378 31.5 inches
Low seat= 52537698379 30.3 (lowers standard by 1.2)
high seat= 52537698380 32.7 (raises standard by 1.2)

All cost $319 and are a no cost swap at time of purchase.

Seems pretty clear that the taller the seat, the greater the comfort due to more padding. Unfortunately those not blessed with larger inseams must trade comfort for seat height to be able to safely control the bike.

I have a zero miles standard seat in unused perfect condition I'd like to swap for a low seat....anyone? Bueller? Bueller? Local area preferred. Even a short term swap would be great, I just wanna get on the road!

That may not be true. Sargent makes a point of how "firm" their AtomicFoam(tm) is.. too soft a seat can be as bad as too hard a seat.

My low seat is the ONLY BMW seat I've been able to ride on for more than an hour.. if I wear the LDComfort undies - it's good for 4-6 hours (depending on the pavement) without discomfort. If I had to guess why - it's fairly firm, and conforms quite well to my buttocks.

It might be worth meeting sometime with someone who has a low seat to try it out for a bit and see if it works for you. I would imagine a good dealer might do a swap (with a few $$$) if your seat was really mint.
