I think it's a good idea, but there has to be some rules (obviously). Plus some overhead of someone 'managing' it. It would be cool to offer a few of those around the country, like mentioned in one of the posts, but when you get into the crowded N.E. area of the country, it may be hard to get going (high cost).
We'll see how far it goes.

This is very similar to the Barn & Bunkhouse that I am singlehandedly building my self. There is a complete build it thread over at another site from the begining last October to yesterday. Still a ways to go. Complete shop with two motorcycle lifts, air compressor, tire changing and balancing equipment and more. The up stairs will be a complete guest house with a small 12x12 bedroom for a couple or two guys, or gals, a large 18x20 bunkhouse bedroom with as many twin beds as will reasonably fit, complete bathroom upstairs and downstairs, an all purpose room with kitchen, couches, etc, Wi Fi for your laptop, and much more.
Hard at work.

Sunset at the MC B&B

The first wall for the upstairs.

A pic last week.

A pic yesterday, Sun 8/12/07 showing wow everything will look, o the right you will see the beginnings of a lean too that will streach the 50' length of the structure.

Anyhow, there is a complete thread in excess of 70 pages over at that other site. You are welcome to go and look.

We tried something along those lines last April at our place in the mountains in North Carolina.
The basis for the idea probably came from following Dean's B&B thread. And from the ADV riders too.
I offered up our house first, then when it was filled up, I rented a vacation house up the hill, then we needed two more houses. Plus some people took care of their own accomodations.
The only agenda was to ride motorcycles in the mountains during the day, and drink a beer or two and socialize in the evening. We provided light breakfast food in every house, and a big group dinner every night at ride HQ (my house)
As luck would have it, the weather turned crappy over the whole eastern US that weekend. But we still had a total of 28 people show up sooner or later over the weekend.
One guy came down from Ontario, two guys rode out from Texas (1200 Rt & R1150R). Mainly they came from MD,Ohio, VA. NC,SC,& FLA.
I didn't charge anything, but everyone that showed up asked what they could do to help out. I just told them what my out of pocket costs were, and every body chipped in. The whole deal probably didn't cost my wife & I over a few hundred bucks.
It was pretty successful for the first try.
But you just gotta stick your neck out and go for it.
And try not to have thin skin.
If the MOA guy is looking for guaranteed results, he'll probably never get off the ground.

Dean - although I haven't been 'over there' for a while, I was following your progress! What a project! You will be a popular guy! I know you are on my "must visit" list when I ever get in the area!
The problem with operating a motorcycle B&B business is some of the clients! While many of us enjoy a brew or two after the days ride, we have gathering places in our area constantly dealing with drunk and disorderly and out of control bikers!
Most of the drinking I have seen at our rides and events has resulted in friendly converstation, happy people or in my case - snoozing peacefully by the fire!

The most important thing is location, location, location. If something like this were to take off, my thought is that the WV, VA, NC area would be better suited for success.
OR out in Dean's neck of the woods. His place will be a destination for those in the east, and a great place for a long weekend for those in the West.
