I talked to Joan at The Ozark Motel today.
1. Joan and her husband were very, very impressed with the people from this group who have called and made reservations so far. She thinks you guys are very polite and sound so professional, and they were really surprised. So thanks for that. But it does make you kind of wonder what they were expecting. Seriously, she went on about it and how excited they are to meet you guys.
2. She wanted me to tell you that she still has some rooms left for those of you who are still considering the trip. And she assured me that even after Oct 1, if you would like to still plan to come that she will certainly love to rent you a room if she has some available. At this point, she feels that there will still be some rooms through October, but they may not be the renovated rooms that I have reserved for our group.
3. And she is wishing good weather for us. That has to count for something!

To all my friends on http://www.r1150r.net... I really would like to go to Arkansas, but have no way of getting there, and I'm not able to ride that far (I'm too old guys...too old!!). So, if anybody has some room on their truck, or perhaps some peter pan fairy dust to sprinkle on Mariah and Mark... well let me know!!!

Man - now THAT's a plea. So sorry I don't have any fairy dust or connections on that side of the Continent that can help. But if it's any consolation, I know how you feel.......... literally every year from about the middle of April up to the third week of May.
But - do ya want to see one of the routes I'm thinking about riding on Thursday or Monday? Or Friday, I guess. - if anyone wants to do a 280-300 mile run through the mountains, I'd be happy for you to join me. Leaving early, early though.
This one (or another I have that runs up to Mountain Home) Magazine Mountain and Gravelly Loop
It goes over Magazine Mountain south of Ozark - the highest peak in Arkansas and then wanders along a couple of good roads that meander through small towns and then up one of my favorite sections of Scenic Byway 7. It will be a 285 mile ride, but since I don't stop for meals I think I can do it along with some photography in about 7-8 hours. Or I can cut the leg over to 7 and that will knock about 70 miles off of it. Yep, yep, yep - it's going to be beautiful there.
Good luck, Mark. Maybe someone else will sign up that will be able to give you a lift - or have fairy dust.

that's cause i haven't called yet.
would love to go, but i have a conference in orlando that next week and i'm heading down on the 4th with the family to blow a wad on mickey. (how long till someone comments on that!
)also, the spine and related nerves are not 100% so I think a 3100 mile round trip would be ill-advised. Especially in the span of 4 days!!!

You and your kids will see & do things there that you'll remember for the rest of your life. Yes it was expensive, but there is nothing like it anywhere else. Spend the extra time, at least 3 days.

What are the chances that a chiropractor would have back problems? How do you "adjust" yourself without getting really twisted up?

Only a month away till our gathering in Ozark, AR for some great riding.

Fall "mini-bash" in Ozark, Arkansas - November 2-4, 2007 at The Ozark Motel - (479) 667-1500. Call for reservations with the BMW R1150R group.
Although our registration is officially over as of today, if the Ozark Motel still has rooms available, Joan will be happy to accommodate your requests for one. If there are no more rooms available at the Ozark Motel, she will probably be able to give you a name of another motel in the area.
Good news: I have spoken off-line with Bob "Priapismic" who has been riding in that part of Arkansas before, and knows his way around pretty well. He is also quite experienced in putting on riding events and leading group rides, so he has arranged his schedule so that he can be there in Arkansas as well. Since he knows the area very well, he will be able to recommend routes/roads for everyone coming. He has volunteered to be the "go to" guy if you have questions about roads and routes and he has even volunteered to lead a group ride on Saturday. He also knows of places to eat along routes, so he will be a big help in that area as well.

Just a reminder for any one with the time and/or interest. I plan on leaving Ozark on Sunday and heading to Western North Carolina for a couple (more)days of mountain riding. Anyone wanting to turn the Ozark ride into a longer sport tour of the southeastern US are welcome and invited to join us (or me,depending on who shows up).
There's no cost, and we've got plenty of room.
So far, two other riders have expressed interest, but will probably make a last minute decision to stop over, or not.
My place is near all the famous area riding spots, but there's lots more of just as good riding that's not so well known. Early November should still be decent riding weather in the Great Smokies.
Also, we're conveinent to I 40, I 75, I 81, I 26, I 20 and most other main routes .
This is just something I've included in my route home from Ozark , thought some others might want do do it too.
