About to change out brake fluid.
DOT 4 is specifiedied. However see reference in places as to NO SYN.
Yet some instructions state Dot 4 but no mention of type.
Also have misplaced my tank removal instructions, and cant seem to find them on web. Any help in locating site appreciated.

You just want a DOT 4 or DOT 5.1 (which is good for ABS systems) brake fluid. You can't use DOT 5 whic his silicon based.
The BMW stuff is just regular DOT 4. You can find Super DOT 4 or DOT 5.1 fluid and it should be less expensive than the BMW branded stuff.
The things you are looking for are dry boiling point and wet boiling point (after the fluid has absorbed water) - the higher the better.

Remove the seat.
Remove screw (2) and the black cover (3).
Remove the front securing screws (4) of the left and right side panels.
Remove screws (1) and lift the oil cooler trim panels on each side up and out of the holders.
Remove the three screws (6) on each side and remove the oil coolers from their holders.
Remove the securing bolt ( 8 ) from the fuel tank.
Disconnect the fuel pump coupler (5).
Disconnect the two breather lines (9) Make sure you mark them so that they don't get crossed when reattaching.
Press in the catch of the quick disconnect couplings (7) and disconnect the fuel lines. Be very careful here...these are the fragile infamous quick disconnects.
Carefully lift the tank up and to the rear.
