Re: My DIY Heated Jacket Liner

One could use nichrome or carbon fibre but , considering the OP copper solution works, why bother?

Re: Feeling environmentally guilty about deleting my cat

I seems to me that the designers of these bikes would not want to have a cat that is "too restrictive".
It is probably designed that way so it WORKS!
Adding some kind of aftermarket CAT that is not designed for the bike is just a waste of time and money.
Get over the guilt and ride :-)

Re: All in one biking boots: tall sole, weatherproof, no laces, and work appropriate

"For day in day out, commuting to work, going to the gym, running errands, etc ...I see the biking boot as something for long trips." What difference does the distance make? You can get in a crash on the way to work just as easily. One has to decide what compromise to make. I will admit to...

Re: All in one biking boots: tall sole, weatherproof, no laces, and work appropriate

It's hard to get something that will fit all your requirements. What makes a motorcycle boot safe and effective in a crash , generally, will not make for a boot that is comfortable to walk in. As for work appropriate, it depends on where you work. It seems to me that to have a good looking boot that...

Re: Brighter headlight option(s)

To get light out a long distance in front of you requires a different optical setup.
A brighter bulb might help but installing an auxiliary spot light will give better results.

Re: new battery dead in a month

I take your point(s), and they are valid, but if I am going to remove this device it's not going to make it back on the bike. A charging system monitor is nice but if I really want that, I would go for a volt meter. I baffles me why the PO mounted the LED in a place where you can't see it while ridi...

Right.
However, I don't see any use for it as the LED is mounted in the side of the bike where you can't see it while riding.
Have not needed it on (many) of my other bikes so ... it's outta here!

Re: new battery dead in a month

Went to start the bike today after 3 weeks parked and it fired up with plenty of juice from the battery.
Seems the "voltage tester" that the PO installed was the problem.

Re: new battery dead in a month

I have pulled the supply fuse to the "voltage monitor" and will see how it goes.
The only other draw is 1.5 mA to the computer. That's not an issue.
It's a Yuasa YT19BL-BS maintenance free.

Re: new battery dead in a month

I should have been more specific as I do use a 2 amp CHARGER to keep the batteries in the bikes topped up. It just seems a bit odd that the BMW battery dies before the one in my FJR 1300. Anyway, will report on findings at 3 or 4 weeks sitting in the garage having disconnected the POs voltage meteri...

Re: new battery dead in a month

I do have a battery tender but it's rather a PITA as the bike is in an underground parking lot in my building. Nowhere near an outlet. My wife rides it sporadically and , of course, it's dead when she wants to ride. Not an insurmountable problem. Anyway, I had a chance to do some more testing right ...

new battery dead in a month... SOLVED

I installed a new battery in the R1550R and charged it correctly. Within a month of sitting idle, the battery is so dead it won't start the bike. Been through this cycle twice now. The battery has been properly load tested as good so I suspect a parasytic load is draining it. Checked (with ammeter) ...

Re: 130/60 on the front?

The SS spokes will look fantastic!
I can imagine you want all black but I think the contrast of the spokes will really set off the whole look.
Trying to keep the blacked out spokes looking good would be a PITA and you would regret it down the road.
Good luck and post results :)

Re: 130/60 on the front?

I can imagine how great the bike will look with the spoked wheels!
That said, I would try to stay with the 120 front tire to maintain the steering feel you have now.
130 will make it "slower" or a bit sluggish.
Just my $.02 worth :)
