Thank you all for the advice I am nearly due an oil change so will do that in the next week and replace with regular 20w 50 and see how the consumption goes. I will also redline the bike more in lower gears on the local back roads to aid the process, a track day sounds like fun as well. Thanks once ...

oil question

Hi all I have a question about my oil consumption. I got the bike at 13000 and it is now 15300, during that time i have added nearly 2 quarts of oil. When i bought it the previous owner told me the oil had been changed to synthetic on the 12000k service, this high oil consumption leads me to believe...

I rode Monday in Northern Cal, headed for jackson and then on to Angels camp looking for some twisty roads (not from here so have no clue about the roads) found a fantastic 13 mile twisty section from Angels camp to Copperopolis, so had to turn around and ride it back again. Weather was partially ov...

Also bought a 02 about 6 weeks ago with low miles, no problems at all apart from burning a small amount of oil, lots of fun to ride.

Will check out the fuel line issues and cable ties myself on mine thanks to these posts.

Headlight bulb

Hey there Hope everyone is having a good holiday season with plenty of riding time. So my main beam stopped working and i went to my local auto store for a replacement. All they had was Sylviana H4 bulbs which supposedly have some shock absorbency in them. Put it in and works alright, not as bright ...

I have been shifting up without the clutch after 1st to 2nd for a while, i find it is smoother if the revs are higher but still works relatively smoothly at lower revs also. After preloading the shift lever i declerate very slightly and quickly and it shifts up smoothly. The reason i do this is i re...

Thanks for that mikecam, really useful info to have as a new owner. I know you said you check your valve clearance quite often, is there an ideal mileage gap between doing it? Also was looking around for some tools to buy, i.e feeler gauges, torque wrench, torx sockets and the like. Is a store like ...

Oil top up

Hi Was wondering how much oil my 1150r can be expected to burn. i.e. how often should it need topped up, only 13000 miles so shouldnt be too much ring wear yet right? The Clymer doesn't say how often the oil should be checked with the whole getting to normal running temperature then checking it, is ...

First ride

Just got the beasht home and taken her for her maiden voyage under my command. Wow what a bute, handles really well, got her up to 85 on some straight stretches and she loves it. Only problem wasgetting back into first, was having to juggle a lot with the friction zone to get her back in. Apart from...

pulling the trigger

Ok thanks everyone for the great reponses.

Going to go for the black 02 with non abs, the miles are low and it has been pampered and no doubt.

I look forward to posting here again, it is an invaluable resource and no doubt.

Thanks again
