Re: Another Windshield Question
I went with a 14 " Cee Bailey with 10 mm spacers on the top mounts to move it forward. So did you just put the spacers between the windshield and the mounting bracket? Where did you get 10mm spacers? Also, do you have to loosen the screws on the lower mounts to accommodate the change of angle?...

Re: Another Windshield Question
My experience was different I guess. I did not want a barn door, but I figured out the BMW touring screen was a bit too high and sloped back toward me too much. I went with a 14 " Cee Bailey with 10 mm spacers on the top mounts to move it forward. The Aeroflow/Parabellum look to me to face a bi...

Get a balaclava from Drag Specialties. Cheap and very effective.

Re: Another MPG issue
Does the single/dual spark make a difference? I had an '04 and it averaged 42 mpg (US) w/ a RhineWest chip installed. It would get 50-52 on 80 mph slab runs; 38 when the whole tank was used stop n go.

Re: Tires
There are a lot of very informative tire threads here, just search. Popular are the Metzeler ME880/Z6 Roadtec, Pirelli Diablo Strada, Michelin Pilot road/PR2, and so on. I ran the Z6, loved the handling/feel but they were useless off the pavement. I have my first-ever set of Pilot Roads with 2k, pre...

Re: Who has the MOST miles without any major failures.
I had 12K on mine before her untimely demise. A buddy has 120K on an '02 1150GS, 100k using Fram oil filters
. No problems with either.

Re: Sargent Seats?
There's bill mayer, who developed the Russell Day Long then sold the patent, and his son Rick Mayer. They're the only two I know of, I think they're in CA..

Re: Sargent Seats?
Hi there, I have about the same inseam 33-34 and liked the Sargent. Caveat: I'd never used the tall on mine, so the Sargent was higher than the stock standard seat and I immediately liked it. I did many 300 - 400 mile days on the Sargent and intend to buy a Sargent for my current bike. I sold it bec...

Re: hard bag options
Check my post. ibmwr.org, ADVRider...there are almost always some for sale used. go to the link I gave you, enter the market, go to "Oilhead R- accessories for sale", then about 1/3 of the way down look for this post: BMW 96-03 RT Goodies from RTSale (also GS Bags) 350 bucks. dunno if ther...

Re: hard bag options
I'll second that, but I'll give you my experience/opinion and let you go from there :). I had an RR which was totaled. The bags were fine as they were not on it. The BMW cases are quite simply the best luggage on earth. The build quality and functionality is second to none IMO. I have owned/messed w...

IMHO, you're overthinking it. If you trust them to fix your bike and you don't want to fix it yourself, let 'em.

Re: post-total loss questions
Thanks Byrdguy. My actual use is 90/10 street/dirt. I was looking for a GS when the R dropped into my lap and it turned out to be excellent street/decent on dirt with the right tires; the Ulysses is great too. I'm not dirt bikin' it. The Tiger fits my bill too and darnit that triple is cool, torquey...

Re: post-total loss questions
Thanks for the replies. I'm in the desert & won't be back for another month. The black RR sold after setting there for a year. I'll ride a Ulysses when I get back and see if someone wants to deal on an '08 if I like it. Meanwhile I'll keep my eyes on the board and Craig's list for an RR or maybe...

Re: post-total loss questions
thanks. The only reason i'm looking a t a new bike is for a warranty. If i buy the R and it has a spline or FD failure it'll be sitting for awhile (I'm a walking Murphy's Law case study). I can't drop 15K on the R12R and accessories, or 17K on a 12GS. The Buell is ready to go and deals can be found,...

post-total loss questions
Hello, A bud totaled my '04 silver RR (he's OK, got his bell rung a little). I'm in new bike-itis now and I have a couple questions. I found an '04 RR (late '04, has the jump start leads) in black, ABS, 4,000 miles, Akrapovic/Y-pipe, Givi screen, bags/luggage rack. Question is, do I want to mess wit...

Re: mounting hardware for BMW screens
If it's just the hardware, the washers/threaded rubber inserts/M5 hex bolts that actually mount the screen to the metal brackets, the part# for a complete set of 2 is 82 00 0 419 435
That particular mounting kit/hardware for those screens is made in the US.
Got 'em from Chicago BMW (phone order)
