If you look at the list of bikes I own on my signature bar, (add a 2005 Thruxton 900), it never fails that I have to force myself to ride one of the other bikes when I step into the garage to choose my steed for a pleasure ride. I don't think I could bring myself to buying a BMW fresh off the showro...

I picked up my 2004 with 10,000 miles in 2006 for $8,000. No ABS, but did have Remus exhaust. grip warmers, center stand, Givi fairing and passenger rails/bag mounts but no bags as add-ons. $7000 means a $6500 offer if I were to consider it. As mentioned earlier, ABS might change the value a bit, ho...

Thanks CycleRob for the input and the new/improved part number. That was a sick feeling seeing that plug fall INSIDE the engine until I started thinking it fell into a bit of a void space in the engine. Your comments relieved my anxiety and visions of tearing down the engine to get to a stranded rub...

OOOPS! What next?

Suppose one were attempting to remove the rubber cap which plugs the timing viewing hole in preparation for finding "top dead center" for a valve adjust. Now suppose that upon replacing the rubber cap, it collapses and falls into the hole and thus into the engine compartment with no chance...

At six years old it could be due for a valve adjustment and a throttle sync, however it is more likely you have not yet acclimated to the gearing and throttling of the bike. I personally use first and even second gear only as acceleration gears while on may may up to third which I use as a slow roll...

There ya go....although I was pretty familiar with the whole condensation thing....I was more concerned as to why this bike seems to put out so much more than any other bike I have owned. I think GeoffJ may have hit it on the head for me given the aftermarket exhaust configuration I described above....

The Vespa is the only bike I've ever purchased new. Expect it to be a lifetime keeper. 65 MPG and 75 MPH on very stable 12" wheels. Lots of leg room even with my 6'2'/210 lb. frame. During the summer months(hot days), it's practically the only bike I ride when travelling in town. Guess you coul...

Excessive condensation from muffler

I bought my '04 (10,000 miles) with a Y/pipe-Remus Revolution-No Chip - removed cat conversion. I have noticed it emits what appears to be an excessive amount of condensation/moisture when I start the bike. Water sprays/squirts from the muffler end and drips from the Y-pipe/muffler connection. The b...

I'm with ya on that one Ruddy. I got caught the day before when the system first moved in with freezing rain. Ironically, I was sitting and sipping in one of our local Barnes and Nobles perusing through a Motorcycle Handling and Safety book. Got home just fine with extra concern for smooth/slow corn...

As usual, everyone was a lot of help. I'm back on track to a finely honed machine. Test ride presented just under 3800 rpm in 6th gear at 70mph. sounds and feels good to me. Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the quick replies. I'm familiar with the Twinmax sync method and with the above referenced tech instructions, however I believe any throttle body cable adjustments as described in the posting make small adjustments to the pre-set positions. My dilema is similar to the initial setting that...

Throttle Body cable adjusment mishap

This was hardly a mishap.....it was simply me putting the cart before the horse and changing the adjustment on the right and left throttle body cable adjustment barrel screw. Without thinking, I adusted the barrel screws without regard to the original positions. I was hoping to step up the idle by d...

R1150R Clutch bleeding nipple adapter How do I get one?

Just got my '04 Roadster and I've had my '00 R1200c for a couple of years. Both are due for clutch fluid replacement. Problem is the bleeder apparatus for the clutch requires an adapter nipple in order to properly bleed the system. A Mity-Vac won't connect or adapt without it. My BMW dealer in Spoka...

Better yet, mix up a little camping with some of the motel stays. Best of both worlds in my opinion. The motel nights allow for a nice shower and a bit of much needed laundry. Gear is minimal for camping, but dont forget the micro stove and iso-propane cannister for some creature beverage comforts i...
