Re: Getting old and decrepit question
The Honda NC700x has the same dual clutch transmission in a smaller, lighter, more economical, package with very comfy ergonomics. The damn thing get about 65-70 mpg as opposed to low to mid thirties of the 1200. Honda has put the same 700cc motor and dual clutch transmission in a hybred motorcycle/...

Re: Rocky Mountains here I come...but I need advice
Give some thought to an electric jacket liner, then there's no need to worring about being prepared for cold weather. When I tour it always comes along for the ride, and I never worry about being cold. Especially nice in the mountains where you can experience temperature variation with altitude chan...

Re: Removed exhaust flap on 012 r12
I completely removed the exhaust valve from my '11 a few months ago, and agree with your assessment. The deeper exhaust note at low RPM with the motor is under load is music to my ears! :D My thoughts are that the only reason for the bloody valve is to meet noise emissions regs. Removal will piss of...

Re: Foot Pegs Adjustable ?
I've installed the peg lowering kit from Wunderlich and it make a world of difference for me. They do reduce cornering clearance a bit but that has not been an issue for me. Take a look here:

Re: Vibration vs. RPM vs. Throttle Position
Welcome to the world of the R motor. What you are experiencing is perfectly normal for the boxer motor, it' those characteristic that define it. As others have said, as it breaks in it will smooth out a bit and the low end trq seems to increase some. I too avoid running synthetic based oil as it doe...

Paul, How about some feedback on the comfort and looks of the Sargent replacement foam and cover? From another thread here... I didn't make it to Charolette yesterday but did put 265 miles on the new seat. The bottom line is ........ This seat just disappears under my butt, and that's a very good t...

DIY Comfort Seat....
A few weeks ago Sargent Cycle installed the Premium Foam Conversion on my '11 R12R. I now have the original OEM foam and cover for sale. Foam and cover are like new, less then 1k mile on these. I'll ship it CONUS only for $135.00. Simply add the foam to you're existing seat pan then staple the cover...

Thanks Karamazov.
Just placed an order with Beemer Boneyard.
It didn't look like I had enough space to be able to twist the screw driver.

I didn't make it to Charolette yesterday but did put 265 miles on the new seat. The bottom line is ........ This seat just disappears under my butt, and that's a very good thing. No pressure points, no pinching, and the boys do not slide up into the tank, there's room on the seat to move and shift s...

I report, 261.7 miles, coasted up to the pump, added 5.85 gallons then road on! Most of that mileage was at 75-80 mph.
Computer said I had 3 miles to empty, it lied!

Re: BMW Comfort Seat vs. Sargent Seat
I'm at Sargent Cycle now waiting for the seat conversion to be completed, then I hit the road for Charlotte. This should provide a good test for the new seat My knees suffer from the angle of the OEM standard height seat, even though the Sargent conversion will raise the seat about .25 inches I want...

Re: Mad Stad Robo Brackets
I notice on the Mad Stad website that the R1200R shown is 2011 which uses a different screen mount bracket to the earlier model(even though the screen itself is the same). Maybe this explains the problems you are experiencing! The difference is how the bracket mounts to the bike, not how the windsh...
