Get it and ride it already! I pulled the trigger on an 03 last Sept, and loving it. For comparison, mine is a 2003 1150R, bought with 29K miles, system cases, bmw tank bag, gel pad in seat, and paid 4500 OTD in oklahoma.

On my 1150R's cases there are attachment points on the front of the bag and on the rear. They are on the inner half and I think they are best on that part and not on the lid. it was a short trip but I was loaded up. I had to go work at another station for the shift. The side hard cases work great. The bmw tank bag works great too.
