So,

It WAS a dead battery. First time seeing this symptoms of a dead battery though. Still was under full warrenty. So, People at the Beemer Boneyard took care of the replacement from Westco.

From the BeemerBoneyard. 199.00 or so. There was somewhere else for 179.00 - plus the shipping... I was ordering battery and filters as well, and BB is a good outfit so I got it from them. In retrospect, I could have 'serviced' the original Starter motor. Would have worked just fine. Hope it helps.....

Just thought I should update on my situation..

Installed a new starter motor and a new Westco battery. The sound of the 'crank' of the new starter is so 'clean' I am wondering now that the old starter was the culprit. The old one was sounding like it was working hard. Only time will tell...

Buckster, I do use the trickle charger - just not last month or so since it has warmed up. I ride almost everyday and I am under impression that shouldn't need to trickle every night if you do ride often. I may be wrong. So,

I am somehow killing my batteries within 12 to 18 months. This is third dead battery in last in about 5 years. - All major Acid brands. Any suggestions? I have 2004 R1150R with about 25K miles on it.

So, I installed a new Odyssey last year in my 04 R1150R... and it died last week. The Westco before that lasted two years. I like between 5,000 and 6,000 rpms between 25 and 50 mph. On curvy mountain roads! Now that's perfect! Heck, on most of my rides, the bike never sees 6th gear. Sometimes, it never sees 5th! Of course, I live in a place that lets me get away with that. Where the heck you ride, man? I wanna go there...

Just installed the signal minder - on 2004, R1150R. easy as 1-2-3..
