Re: Just another test ride victim...

Welcome to the victim's club! 8)
I was also a test ride victim back in January. I suggest getting some sort of crash bars. People suggested them to me...I got them....after i dropped the bike. #-o
Low speed, just a few minor scrapes on the right side valve cover, but still.

Re: Cylinder head protection?

I used to feel exactly the way you do about the Motech bars. UGLY. But, I had a low speed drop and scraped up the right side head cover. Ouch. Reluctantly purchased the SW Motechs (too bad i didn't buy them before the drop) and was pleasantly surprised at how well they actually look in person. Maybe...

Re: Padding Kit for Standard everyday life type of Jean's ?

I have draggin jeans and like them a lot. I purchased optional knee/shin armor as well. Another option, that would work with any pair of pants, is Bohn body armor. http://www.bohnarmor.com/ These seem to be better suited to protection from impact type injuries vs. just abrasion. I don't know anyone ...

Horizontal Adjustment- Headlight

The r's headlight is in serious need of adjustment. It would be perfect if all I needed to see was the right shoulder of the road. I searched the forum and didn't find any info on horizontal adjustment. The manual just states to have the dealer adjust it. I won't be able to get to the dealer's for a...

Re: R1200R too big of a jump from Monster 620?

Thanks for the replies everyone....now getting it into first has become second nature. If this darn rain would stop for more than one day a week i could get some real miles in. [-o< I've taken quite a bit of teasing on the new bike. "it's a man's bike" and other such nonsense. lots of jeal...

Re: R1200R too big of a jump from Monster 620?

I think I am going to wait awhile before buying any accessories or making any mods to the bike...even for something functional like guards. Bill has a good point. The bike looks awesome as-is. I'll start a "cylinder repair fund, just in case. 8-[ Quick question: I have noticed that sometimes th...

Ok...not to rub it in, but I live in beautiful, sunny California. It is 75 degrees right now, clear blue skies.....I hope your area warms up soon!

Re: R1200R too big of a jump from Monster 620?

Well, today was the day to see the R12R for the first time and possibly go on a test ride. When I first saw the bike in person, I have to admit it looked BIG. But, nerves and all, I test rode one with the low seat and....it was AWESOME. The Monster probably weighs 50 lbs less, but I would never gues...

Re: R1200R too big of a jump from Monster 620?

Wow, everyone has been so helpful. Quite a difference from the ducatimonster.org forum.... :o I will definitely be checking out both seat heights, just to be sure. Now as for buying one on Saturday, don't know about that. The dealer has two in stock....one black, one white and neither have ASC. I wa...

R1200R too big of a jump from Monster 620?

Hi Everyone, I have been riding for about 8 years, starting with a little Nighthawk 250 and for 4 years on Monster 620. I love the Monster, but am interested in the R1200R for more comfort/longer rides. I m 5'8" with 31" inseam. I had planned to head down to the nearest dealer for a test r...
