What the previous poster failed to note is the reason for removing the turn signal was the need to relocate the headlight high beam switch from the steering column back to its historic original location of the floorboard under the driver's left foot. The reason for this reversion is the large number...

I almost got stuck in the traffic jam that resulted from the shooting & investigation, but I took back roads to get around it. Three hours later I was on my way home & traffic was backed up a good 20 miles on I-95 on the other side. It happened to coincide with my first Roadster ride of the ...

Randy,

As soon as I hit the Powerball jackpot I'm going to hunt you down and ply you with bundles of fresh, crisp $100 bills until you turn over the keys to that bike. Be warned!

Parabellum

These guys make good, quiet screens; I replaced the stock screen on my 1987 R80RT with one of theirs and was very satisfied.

I don't like a screen on my R1100RA; the original owner had the BMW screen and I took it off after a couple of months and never put it back.

Awesome-looking bike. I'd be leery of parking it on the sidestand facing downhill, though. Does it ride as good as it looks?

Just got back from running the same route on the airhead. What a difference a windshield & fairing makes! On the Roadster, I couldn't be sure that the heated grips were working, other than the fact that my hands didn't freeze. On the airhead, I had to turn the grips down to the low setting becau...

I can't think of a good reason to trade in my Roadster for anything else. I don't ride aggressively enough that I'm exceeding its capabilities, and the latest technology doesn't really offer anything sufficiently earth-shattering that I think I'm missing out. The Roadster does what I need it to do, ...

I wouldn't let the mileage scare you. All it means is that somebody has been out enjoying it on a regular basis. If it appears to be well kept, better yet if it has good maintenance records, it'll probably serve you well. Are you buying it from a dealer? Has it been gone over by a competent BMW moto...

A bit nippy today

I fired up the Roadster and took it for a brief spin today. About 20 miles on back roads, just enough to get the oil warmed up and blow the cobwebs out after sitting idle for a couple of months. Temperature was in the high thirties; with no windshield or hand protectors it was a bit nippy. Hand warm...

Today we're going down to my mother's to cook & eat my family's version of a traditional Slovak Christmas Eve dinner. Sour mushroom soup, pagacha, pirohi, bobalki, and kolbasi. My daughters are honing their skills at continuing the traditional ethnic cuisine; kind of ironic that the Slovak tradi...
