Luggage Width

Post by P_Jensen »

Replacing my previous Ferro R1150R with a R1200R and I was wondering,
if anyone could provide the width of the BMW vs Givi V35 luggage fitted on the R1200R?
Thanks in advance. Peter J.

I came from an 1150 with the system cases to the 1200 with the GIVI monokey. If you need an exact measurement I'll get it, but it is grossly the same as the 1150 w system cases. I base this on how easy it is to maneuver in the garage.

I am trying to determine how much if any difference in width between the Givi PLX cases and the BMW bags. From the pictures I have seen on the net and here, I like the look of the Givi's better than the factory bags. That said the dealer is trying to convince me to go with the factory bags (discount pricing), the pricing between the two works out to about the same so cost is not the deciding factor. The R1200R looks smaller than the 1150R did, so I would like to keep the bike looking compact and nimble. Thanks for the response.

I recently received an E-mail from Wunderlich announcing the availability of brackets to mount the classic Krauser style bags on an R1200R. I'm not sure of the relative capacities, but they really looked nice and narrow.

I measure BMW OEM system cases fitted on a R1200R camhead to be approximately 39" to 40" wide when installed.
