Removed the cat, does it need fuel control adjustment?

Post by brico »

My 2004 R1150R Rockster came with original catalytic converter, Supertrapp exhaust muffler which did not have the core but only the can (someone must have gutted the core and discs) and it also came with Techlusion R259 Fuel Control module. It ran OK at least to me, as I am new to BMW. Then I got the Supertrapp exhaust muffler core and installed it with 20 discs. It run OK even hough I am positive that the exhaust gas back pressure was increased with fitment of the core and discs. Now I removed the catalytic converter, fitted the Motorworks Y-Pipe ( aka cat eliminator) and am wondering if the Fuel Control module will require adjustment or it will adjust the fuel control automatically. Any recommendations and advice is welcome. :?:

As long as you've fitted the exhaust sensor into the Y-piece then the Motronic will be able to measure the exhaust gases and adjust the fuel/air mixture to whatever map the system is running.
