A Great Ride...and Then Maintenance.

Post by Boxer »

I got off fairly late on a ride to the dealership this morning. Two things, I wanted to see the new R bikes they have there and I needed another quart of Redline Grease for my tranny.

I wandered around the showroom floor trying to decide which one I wanted to take my picture with. They let me sit on this new R1200ST(I think) for my pic!

I've always been a "rear end" kind of guy. I like these trick signals. I wonder if they will fit on the RR? Hmmmmm?

Well I got my Redline and started out the door, and I decided I'd ask when they might be able to change out a new front tire. They siad they'd do it right now! So I waited until I got new rubber on the front. A new MEZ6 to match my rear one. Ooooh! It feels so much nicer on the road.

I finally got home and did my tranny drain and refill with the Redline. A couple of photos.

Getting ready!

All drained out and ready for the "good stuff".

Ahh, if you do this try to remember to get a sideways funnel. I rigged this piece of cardboard but had to construct another little paper funnel in the middle of the job.

Properly filled, even with the bottom of the filler hole, I torqued down the plug and went and got a beer.

Oh happy day! Tomorrow the forcast is rain so I'm glad I got it done today. And the new RS is NICE! Oh I almost forgot. They said the new R1200R is due out in June if all goes as scheduled! :P

Is that the R engined R or the K engined R? Surely this is the K1200R.

DIY Maintenance is great. A sure money saver. Those BMW techs get paid big moola to drain and fill fluids.

Well, when I asked her (the owner, Bob Woolridge's wife, Linda) I had the RR in mind but after thinking about it for a day or so, I think you may be right. I think she might have been referring to the K Roadster. 'Cause all I asked her was when was the new Roadster coming out.

And I thought I was onto something there.
