We just finished our latest webisode for Peckhammer TV, which is about a Seattle startup who is making aftermarket parts for Adventure Touring bikes such as the R1200GS. One of the benefits of doing what I do is that I get to see stuff before it is released, and I sometimes get to tour production facilities. And one of the interesting things to me was that these products are being made in America, despite the trend for off-shoring. This company is capitalizing on the talent and skilled labor that is found in the Boeing corridor. So if you are interested in watching the vid, I posted a version of it to YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_i7X0UZMZU
Couple of last comments. There are a few bits I spied that would might work on the R1200R, protective type stuff for the sensitive bits, maybe even the skid plate. But don't go looking to buy anything just yet. their official launch isn't until March 1st.

I checked them out and they have a very rugged looking skid plate. Might be worth a call.

Re: Made in America
Ah... so you are the reason they called me. I live within a mile of their location, so I'll loan them my bike or give 'em pics to see if the GS skid plate will work. I also spied a cool potentiometer guard they had on their GS. I think that would fit on the R, and I'd like to get one if it does.caprug wrote:I checked them out and they have a very rugged looking skid plate. Might be worth a call.
