Well, the BMW Motorcycle Owners of GA "Georgia Mountain Rally" was this past weekend and it pert near rained them out. I didn't go, because I've been sick and didn't think I'd like camping in rainy weather. But as it turned out Sunday became a beautiful day in the neighborhood!
I got my cover off the Beak and took off for parts south of Atlanta. I had a group of 6 counties where I needed to go see the courthouses.
I made it to Conyers (Rockdale County) by 9AM and just up the slab is Covington (Newton County). This is the Newton Co courthouse.

You can see the Beak in the shadows....waaaayy down there in front of the courthouse.
I left Covington and took the backroads down to Monticello (Jasper Co).

At the Monticello town square I decided to play with the camera timer and this is what happened!

It looks like the Confederate General is about to draw his sword and lop off my head.:-)
After my break I rode on over to Jackson (Butts Co) Yes Chris, that's BUTTS county!

Then on to Griffin (Spalding Co.)

And lastly, McDonough (Henry Co.).

By this time church was getting out and the traffic became a nuisance, so I found I-75 and headed back to north Georgia. It was a great day for a casual ride.
I tell you this is really fun going to all thses places I would never have gone were it not for the club challenge. I now have 67 county courthouses under my belt and plan on a trip down to south GA this weekend coming up so I should rack up another 20 or so.

Courthouses
Interesting idea to hunt down courthouses. I enjoyed the McDonough one especially. Our oldest lives there (he rides a Harley Heritage Softail Classic, go figure).
I'm next door in Alabama. We're blessed with covered bridges (nearly a dozen here). I'm making that my small challenge for this year.
Once you're done with Georgia, head west. We also have some really nice old town squares with beautiful courthouses. If you see a red roadster - going slowly - wave. It could be me.
