BMW USA finally got the software update that fixes the issue with the trip odometer. I just had the new software uploaded this past weekend, and finally my trip odometers work now. (when engaging the alarm system they would go back to zero, and sometimes even without me engaging the alarm system).
And of course it was nice to finally ride my bike again after a nasty winter full of snow and ice (last weekend was the first time in a month or so that I saw pavement again in my neighborhood).
