high beam headlight lens cracked

Post by bubbac »

Returned from a two day ride, cleaning off bugs and the high beam glass lens is cracked (no other damage). Bummer :(
I am new at this but it looks like $202 replacement or can one buy the glass only :?
Can anyone give advice on changing out the high beam?
Thanks in advance :)

My Rockster's headlight unit is disassembled at the moment. Removing or replacing either of the lamps requires some fiddling, but nothing overly complicated. There are three standoffs for each lamp that attach to the headlight "adjusting ring", including two "adjusting elements" and a fixed post. Attachment of the lamps to ring is different for low beam versus high, plus the standoffs have a nylon positioning nut that must be turned to specific direction in order to release from the ring.

This is better explained via photos. I'm modifying my headlight this weekend and will grab some images. Also, my original high and low beam will be available for sale if you're interested.
