Many people have expressed an interested in having online chat available for owners, enthusiasts, wannabes and fanatics of BMW's R (mainly R1150R) bikes. This possibility has now become a reality. Setting your system up for online chat is quick and easy. This page tells you how to install AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) on your computer (it's free), as well as how to find out who is chatting, and when/what we are going to be talking about. We will schedule specific dates and times for certain topics although the conversations will certainly not be limited to the topic at hand. Of course, you will always be able to see what other people are signed on and you can chat whenever you want provided there is someone with your interests (BMW's) to chat with. To the best of my ability, I will try to provide a synopsis of things that we talked about at the scheduled chat sessions. I hope you all enjoy!!! Feel free to email me with any questions! Installation of AOL Instant Messenger:

It should be noted that AIM does come with Netscape, so check to see if it is already installed on your machine. If you are not sure, go ahead and download it as this will ensure you have the latest version.

1. Click on this link: AOL Instant Messenger (TM)
2. Go to the left of the screen and move your cursor to "Get AIM"
• Select your Operating System
3. Click on the "New Users Click Here" button
4. Set up your personal Screen Name and Password

Once you have installed AIM:

• Email me (Doug) your username at [email protected]
• I will then put your username and any other information you want to share on this page
• I will also email my R1150R buddy list to you and your name to everyone else that has already signed up so no one has to add each person individually and by themselves. Please note that I can only do this when you are online, so if you don't have the list, send me a message asking for it.

Some additional notes:

• Edit your preferences if you want (by clicking on the wrench)
• I would suggest selecting ("Flash Buddy List Window…") or enabling your sounds so you'll know when one of us signs on
• If you want to chat, simply open AIM and see who else is signed on
  • You can then click on people and invite them to a chat room or double-click to send a instant message - Let eachother know that you are an avid Beemer dude by starting the message with "r1150r" or something similarly obvious - Sometimes we forget who is who..
