Hi all,

When examining a new R12R in the showroom yesterday, I noticed they still haven't put a drain plug on the final drive (this would cost what? a couple of bucks?).

Would it be possible to just insert a small plastic or silicone tube in the filler hole and push it to the bottom to siphon or suck the oil out?

I can't find the TB idle speed adjustment screw on the 12R. Did they hide it?

In order to clean and grease the tranny input splines (which I also had to do on my R100S 30 years ago), why couldn't you just unplug a few wires, remove TB inlet tubes, starter and muffler, remove 6 subframe bolts from the engine, unbolt the tranny, and pull the rear assembly back from the engine (after supporting the engine of course)?

Is the taller of the 3 seats taller because of more padding (more comfortable), or a different seat tray?

Thanks for any input. I just can't make up my mind about buying this bike.

James, on the R1200 series Boxers the idle adjust and sync are done by the bikes computer.

The final drive unit is drained only once, at the 600 mile

The splines on the new bikes don't need peroidic greasing.

The new R1200's are light years beyond the Airheads of time past.

The R1200R is one of the most fantastic bikes available regardless of price.

Ther R1200R rocks get one Seriously though take a testride and I bet you are going to love it. Taller seat will probably have more padding maybe you can tell how tall you are, I'm 185cm and the standerd seat is great and I also think it's very comfy(all though never more then 3,5 hours in the saddle on most rides).

Here's a how too on the fluid change maybe this info is any use to you. Needs to be done only once though as Dean said so not to big of an issue I guess.
