New to the forum, and soon new to a R1200R, so thought I would introduce myself. After an eye opening test ride today, have ordered one. So next Saturday, my 1200GS gets part ex'd, and in return I ride home on a black 1200R.

My GS is a great bike, incredibly comfortable. However, the 1200R got my blood pumping. I found the riding position vastly different, almost sportsbike like, but enjoyable. Felt slightly cramped as i'm 6"4 so have gone for a high seat, likewise a high screen. ABS without servos was sharper than my GS. Even got the RDC thrown in for free.

If my ride this afternoon was anything to go by, then I think its going to be a good summer.

Regards. :D

Those test rides do it every time. The conventional wisdom around here is don't get on an R1200R unless you're prepared to buy it. It's a great bike.

Welcome and enjoy.

Welcome to the boards!
Yep, the test drive will do that, there's a passion that the 1200R makes me feel that the 1150 never did.
I'll be trading in my 1150r on Monday, same story as you.
This shall be a good summer on two wheels, or with the 1200 maybe just one some of the time!
