Any Day Now

Hi All,
I'm new to the forum and have found lots of good suggestions about the R1200R. After 3+ good years on the '04R1150RT I decided to go lighter, less bodywork and get something I could push around in the garage. Then I rode the R1200R. Wow! Homerun! Placed an order mid-March and am expecting it any day. Will probably be in the market for an aftermarket seat and windshield. Any and all suggestions would be appreciated.

Bill,
Good luck with your new ride. I came off an '02 R1150RT for the same reasons as you. I am so happy with the RR. I'm 65 and the lightness is a blessing for me! It doesn't hurt that it's way quicker either, lol. I put the taller shield on, and I will be looking for about 5 more inchs. Cee Bailey has some already. They come with the rubber grommets in already too, nice touch.
You're goona love this bike.

Hank,
Thanks for the reply. I think I'm really going to like it for the very same reasons you do. I turned 66 recently and decided I didn't need to push a 600+ lb bike around (as much as I loved it!). But this is a whole new experience and I can't wait. I've called the dealer this morn and am awaiting a call back to tell me if the bike is ready to be picked up. Cheeers, Bill

Congratulations on your new bike. You're going to love it! i picked mine up on 3/24. The only problem I've had was a sore butt after a few hours in the saddle. It felt the same as the stock seat on my former 1200 GS, so I've got a new one being made by Rick Mayer. I let you know how it is after I get it back (build date is 4/12, so I should get it back sometime around the 22nd or so). I've got a convention in Denver over Memorial Day weekend, so I'm taking a week before and after to see the Black Hills, Grand Tetons and Yellowstone Park. That should give me a good evaluation on the new seat and the bike for road trips.

Jerry, Thanks for the info about the Rick Meyer seat. A week's ride prior to your meeting in Denver should give you an excellent opportunity to evaluate the seat. I'll be standing by...

Hey Jerry:

You're about a month in front of me on your build date for your Mayer. Would you do me a favor and post a photo of the seat when you get it? I'd love to see a shot of yours. Thanks!
