hi lads,
i'm in the market for a gps system,
i,m looking at either a tom tom or zumo 550 anyone use any of these kits ,
any thoughts would be great thanks

Try the Adventure Rider forum, sub forum "layin down tracks" A wealth of info of all kinds --probably more than you want to know

I was lookin' for a GPS for sometime; checked out the BMW Navigators but unfortunately didn't have a grand lying around
I really wanted one of the streetpilots but the cheapest unit I could find was approximately £450 which was alot more than I wanted to spend.
Browsing around I stumbled on gps warehouse. They had the Streetpilot 2610 for £289 inc. bike kit, RAM mount and car kit. Ideal for me really so I bought it. Only other accessories I needed where a new CF flash card as the supplied version is only 256Mb; I also bought a helmet headset kit which was about £23 from Touratech.
As the kit included the power lead, I got it fitted at my local dealers for a reasonable price. I was also entitled to a free DVD update from Garmin to the latest Mapsource data, v9.
I know it's an older unit but it's very very good and I'm extreamly happy with it. I be tempted to look around and make your decision for all the right reasons.

They were *quite* good and delivery was relatively prompt; not the best customer service in the world but good value for money. Checkout what else they've got too!

Just havin' a quick look on gpsw; they've got the Garmin Quest for around £179 which isn't bad. Nice little unit, plus they do a bike bundle.

i looked at the zumo 550 it costs 850 euro over here and 700 ish from a retailer in sheffield on e bay so the jury is still out on it at the min
