dropped helmet

how far can you drop a helmet & it still be ok? my brand new aria just fell about 4 feet onto a carpetted floor. i want to say that it is ok, but one can never be sure. thank you.

Every one's gonna give you a different answer. My 2 pennies say it fine...
But w/ Arai's prices I would probably still shed a tear or two...

If your head was in it I would be worried . . .
IMO the delicate part of the helmet is the inner styrafoam liner - once its crushed its done its job. But a 4 ft fall on carper or a 3 ft fall on pavement would not worry me - as long as it was empty.

I'd tend to agree. Helmet falling on rug should be fine. But, if you really need peace of mind, you should be able to send the helmet to Arai and they will check it to make sure. I've never done this myself, but I've heard it's a service they provide.

I would not hesitate in using it...but that's me...if I was stinkin' rich and had money to burn I might think differently.

Though it is one of the most sickening feelings you can have without actually injuring yourself...
My old Arai fell off the bike seat in it's thick padded zip-up bag & I worried about it for ages. I then realised that there was a reason why I was taught to put my gloves on the floor first, then the helmet on top of 'em (not on the seat / tank / mirror)
I think it'll be fine too, but a certified Arai dealer will check it if you can't sleep at night anymore.

Very sorry to hear that.
Obviously there is only one thing you can do and that is to replace it with another Arai, perhaps an RX7 Corsair in silver?

i totally appreciate all of the advice. i think the majority rules with not sweating it & keeping the lid. it's just that we always hear that helmets are a one drop deal. that made me think that they are super-fragile & worthless if they are so much as bumped. thank you all again & from now on, if the helmet is not being worn, i will keep it on very low surfaces. peace
