I am really new to posting pics....this mac is amazingly fun to work with. 'The BMW of computers'; one of the BMWomen.com told me.

I thought I would post some pics from my 17 day ride accross the west last Sept.

This is what we all dream of....the open 'road to somewhere I've never been.' This is somewhere in Utah....which in my opinion has the most scenic riding I have yet to experience....




And this old mercantile would have been invisible to me in a car.....but I notice on the bike....this is in a little town on the border of Utah and Nevada. Incidentally, no gas here. The next fuel was many miles ahead in Rachel (area 51) Nevada.



And this is riding and life partnership at its greatest....together yet individual.

and for my final picture....This picture I call...The Lazy Dayz of Summer!!!
We stayed in Yellowstone at this Hotel. Something I had always wanted to do. In the cool night air I listened to a great horned owl 'hooting' all night long and in the early morning the elk put on a show for us...right under our window. I will remember it always.

Very nice! I look forward to riding through that part of Utah someday. I've driven a car through there, but the motorcycle will bring a whole 'nother level to it.

Going to a nurses convention in Vegas in April. Riding down and back.

I will post the stuff that doesn't have to 'Stay in Vegas'.

I have a couple questions:

Do you have the low seat on your R?
Can you flat-foot it?
Can you compare the 1150/1200 as far as how you fit on them?

I saw on another post you said your 5' 5", my wife is about 5' 2" and want's a different style bike, sport, sport-touring, or naked, in the next couple years.

Hence the questions and thanks in advance.

Yes I am 5'5. I can flat foot it. I have the low seat but also I had it rebuilt for comfort and to minimize the flare (width) at the front of the saddle. It is more than just being tall enough for a bike.
I am Tall enough but narrow in the pelvis...compared to the guys. So when I first got the bike it was tricky. Slopes, especially gas station driveways were my worst nightmare. While I could easily touchdown, the stance of my feet was so wide that I had no manuverability...very little control. I was little more than a human kickstand.
So I took the seat to Mr. Eds Moto near my home in Oregon and he carved his magic.
If you have not checked him out, I highly recomend him. He improved the seat 10 fold. He is reasonable and a heck of a nice guy.

As for the GS...I hear it is a nice bike to ride. As you can see in my pic my husband is tall almost 6'5 so I have never ridden it.
If your question is re the R1200R with low seat. I can easily touch down on it.
I sat on one at the Seattle moto show with low seat. but again, I would have the seat reworked.


There is a new F800 that is nice and low. A little seat work and wah lah
I think your wife would be in business. I also hear about people lowering the R. I have seen posts describing it but I did not need it.
