R1100R engine charactersitics?

I've had this 2000 R1100R for about 6 months now and tonight while cruising around I noticed what seems to be some rattling in the engine when I'm in 2nd gear/20mph/2000rpm. Is this normal? I haven't been riding the bike that much to notice if it has always been there. Also, when I get to about 70mph/5th gear I can feel like a harmonic vibration. Is this normal as well?

Thanks,

Rey

How many miles?

My 2k RR doesn't have either of those symptoms, but then it's still a pup...

26k miles. So, you have no noticeable change in vibration around 70mph/5th gear? If not, then maybe it's just tires...hopefully.

Spooky,

Could you verify on your bike that you don't have any vibration at 5k rpms? At a stand still, I can feel the vibration at point.

Sledge,

I put the good stuff unless I accidentally thought I was filling my truck and put diesel in it. :)

Unfortunately, the crap weather prevents me from doing so :(. However, from memory, the 'blur zone' seemed to be around 50 MPH in 4th gear (not sure the RPM, but 5k sounds about right). 70 MPH in 5th was smooth as ice, as I recall. Again, just working from 2½ week old memories.

Believe me, if I wasn't for the salt, ice and negative numbers wind-chill, I'd give it a go for ya ;).

Spooky,

I wanted to eliminate the tires/rims vibrating, so what I meant by "stand still" was that I started the bike and just revved the engine to about 5k rpms, and it is around that rpm that I can feel the vibration. So, no need to ride the bike. :)

Thanks,

Rey
