Hold on to Wallet -

Post by Ric »

I've never driven a BMW before so I suppose I better test drive one before thinking I want one. :?
I got the hots for a RR so I'm going to Bogarts for a test drive Saturday ....
Bogarts has a R1200S I drive, that should be close enough to get the idea.

They look sorta the same, but are different. Dont ride the RR without taking your wallet! You WILL bring it home. Resistance is futile!

I really wanted an S, it comes with ohlins ; - )
The wait for it was till april or may.
Then the tranny went in my 1150R,
The new 1200R was being uncrated.
So; out with the old in with the new......
I hate the suspension, no city lids......
Ohlins, as soon as they become availabe.
Law enforcement 23 liter side cases, top loading ordered;
with optional leather inner bag....
Remus full system, trying to figure out how to oreder from SJBMW.
I am in Guatemala and want it shiped to my fowarding address in miami.
Now; I will be very happy with the new R.
The engine is much nicer than the R1200RT I used for a couple thousand miles in Spain.
The weight is absolutely perfect, and very comfortable.
It is more practical and more comfortable than the S.
I will be very happy with this bike. . . .
Eventually.
BUT the truth is I wanted an S.

S with risers..... and a little custom paint; looks good, don't it!
(It's not mine though, I just suggested some of the resulting paint scheme.)

I sooooo want an R1200R. The gentleman who bought the above bike insists that the power of the R is every bit that his S is..... stronger even. Although he's still breaking it in, so I haven't seen the thing wind out yet. Frankly, all I ever saw of his bike was it's assend rounding the corner way up ahead as I was working the transmission of my Japanese 124hp four. He seems to be riding MUCH faster from the saddle of this 1200S than he was from the 1100S he traded in toward purchase of the above Ohlins equipped toy. Nice bike, REALLY nice bike.
But make mine an R!

I built this bike....., but it's got a little more than half the horsepower of a R1200R. Handsome that it is, there is nothing like having a teutonic boxer to brag about.... someday, someday.

Israel, Ohlins for the R1200R are not out just yet, but on the way.

To make things easier for you, I talked to Jason at San Jose BMW this morning (my old store) and told him about you.

You can e mail him at [email protected] so you will not have any long distance charges, he will help you any way he can, things like no shipping to Florida and no sales tax at least, same with Remus as well, remember say it is a Deans deal.
