New Here - RR ???

New here...new to BMW....thinking of buying one.
First a question. When you guys write "RR", are you referring to a R1200R ? If not, what ?
I'm a long time knee-draggin' sprotbike guy looking at longer trips but still prefer an exciting ride. And, I don't care about freakin' wind noise, it's a part of motorcycling. So I'm looking at the R1200ST and R1200R.
Here's my present sportbike. I just figure it's time to get something new

Hi Ric,
You're in my neighborhood. I'm just over the holler in north Georgia.
Welcome to the board.
The RR is just short for the naked Roadster, leaving out the 1150 part...or in your case the 1200 part...as in R1150R.
As the 1200 version gains in popularity we may have to distinguish between the two.
You should venture over and join us for some rides sometime. We go up to Mentone pretty regularly.

Nice ride Ric. One of the original sport bikes.
What you will find out from the minute you get off that one and on a BMW is the incredible suspension. It breeds confidence. It will be light years different from your current ride.
The other upside is that you can go test ride a BMW of your choosing at your nearest dealer.

Welcome! I'm headed to LA (Lower Alabama) for Christmas. I'll be in Orange Beach with the in-laws...
I've had my Rockster nearly 3 1/2 years and still smile every time I crank her up. They are great bikes and you can usually get pretty good deals on used r1150r's.
Lookin' forward to hearing about your new acquisition...
t.
Got one !

Hi Ric:
If you like your sport bike, you will love the R1200R. It is a "stealth" sport bike which you can surprise the crotch rocket drivers with.
See my report here:

I love this bike !
FYI: Motorcycle Consumer News is going to have a full report in the next issue (February 2007 edition).

I live in Madison near Huntsville Alabama. I have a friend in Atlanta I hope to get over too this coming year. I'll try and give you a holler !
I'm also a charter member of Kawasaki Triples Worldwide. We meet at Deal's Gap twice a year. We have over 100 2-strokes from around the world show up. We get all the rooms at both the Deal's Gap resort and Topoco down the street. Our next meet is May 15 ~ 20, 2007. Our nineth annual meet I think. You'll have to come up. That many 2-strokes is a real hoot.
Thats my yellow Bumble-Bee pointed towards my H2 there in the pic.

Ric,
Welcome aboard.
I truly loved my little Suzuki GT380 2 stroke back in the 70's. Always lusted after the 550 or 750. Bet thats sound getting 100 2 strokes up & going.
We don't see too many here in Cali, as the smoke is fronwned on. I remember tooling around Florida with bad mixture laying down a blanket of smoke that would do the mosquito abatement guys proud.

The Kawa H2 is one of my absolute dream bikes. My dad used to ride one back in the day. Wanna swop your H2 for my R1200R?

Mine has done about 1900 miles and is now resting comfortably in my livingroom.
I think however that it would probably be cheaper for me to buy my future H2 here in Scandinavia. Also I would need to get hold of a proper garage since the two stroke Kawa might need a bit of tinkering from time to time.
