Seems that $13,025 USD in 2006 is about 10,000 Euro's, $9,995 USD in January 2003 was worth about 10,000 Euro's.

I don't like it ... but the idea that BMW is over pricing is missing current realities. List price in Germany is 11,200 Euro's, which would be $14,560 USD here.
It seems BMW is supporting the US price by some 11%

.....a valid point, but the old base included a few things the new doesn't.

I picked up a R12R on Friday that I ordered in September. I spent three days riding it in NC and SC and have a few observations...

It is a nice bike, but to equip it similarly to the 03 R1150R I keep in Florida, I would have to spend well over $20k...more than the price of an RT, particularly with the discounts I am seeing on RT's now. I didn't see that same difference in 03.

I like the bike, but if I had to have just one, I would have kept the 03 RR. The cost of the new one is not justified by the improvements in my opinion. Both are great bikes, so if you are on the fence, try to get a really long test ride before making the plunge.

Doesn't look like the USD to Euro will change any time soon. I'm not concerned I love my R1150R, just parts and accessories will be more dear

This bike gets great reviews. Ofrogg (formerly on this board... until he sold me his/my RR) has one. Great buy. If I had not just bought and outfitted my RR, this is the bike I would buy, especially with some bar risers. I guess the vertical lights put some off but I think it is a beauty and the lights, from all reports I've read, really put out some photons. Owen really likes his.

From the official Motorrad website.

R1200ST wheelbase=59.1 inches; dry wt.=452; seat ht.=31.9; overall length=85.2
R1200R wheelbase=58.9 inches; dry wt.=437; seat ht.=31.5; overall length=84.4

I have only drooled on them, have only ridden the ST on a demo ride.

BTW you can do a comparison of the two on the BMW Motorrad site. They have a lot of similarities engine wise (as you might expect) with the ST having a little bit bigger gas tank and they squeeze out 1 more horse out of the powerplant. Of course, the clipons make the ST a bit more sport oriented in rider position but "Handlebar center point angle" is 63.0 degrees on the ST, 63.4 on the RR.

There seems to be some chatter on various forums that BMW will cease to offer the ST after 2007 but I don't know how reliable those rumors are. YMMV

Man, I loved the ergos on the ST, and I even liked the KTM-like over-under headlight. Really a nice bike. But I don't fancy all that plastic, so I went with the naked R.

I read on the MOA site that apparently BMW is not shipping the ST to the States except if special ordered. Too bad.

There is also a handlebar conversion kit for the ST if I recall correctly. I like the ST alot also.

BTW, the R1200S does not have risers available as best as I can tell, they would conflict with the fairing. Also, the R1200S has no luggage option.

The new R1200ST (2007 model) can be factory ordered with the new non servo ABS brakes and other goodies too.

Taking the UK base price of £9k current exchange rates equate to almost $18k ouch...
